چکیده

The ability of additive manufacturing (AM) to produce structures with complex geometry has gained significant attention from researchers and fused deposition modelling remains a popular AM method fabricate layered structure using thermoplastic polymer. However, the application these materials limited prototyping because weak performance associated defects; porosity interfaces. Stronger composite may be produced through optimisation processing parameters addition reinforcing fibres in polymer expand products, e.g., medical prosthetics protective gear. This study investigates fracture behaviour nylon matrix composites reinforced short continuous carbon under tensile load. Additionally, impact fibre volume fraction on mechanical properties is explored comparison literature. Tensile testing unidirectional solid specimens loaded direction revealed that 5% had significantly higher strength Young’s modulus but lower elongation at break compared 20% thanks superior fibres. Post-experimental surfaces both brittle failure pull-outs for fibres, indicating bonding between fibre. (stiffness strength) different levels fractions are presented based this literature data. strengths moduli changed similar manner materials, an almost linear relation was obtained content as were governed mostly by On contrary, content, no direct relationship observed.

Machining of Fibre Reinforced Plastic Composite Materials

Fibre reinforced plastic composite materials are difficult to machine because of the anisotropy and inhomogeneity characterizing their microstructure and the abrasiveness of their reinforcement components. During machining, very rapid cutting tool wear development is experienced, and surface integrity damage is often produced in the machined parts. An accurate selection of the proper tool and m...

Carbon-Fibre-Reinforced SiC Composite (C/SiSiC) as an Alternative Material for Endoprosthesis: Fabrication, Mechanical and In-Vitro Biological Properties

Particle-induced periprosthetic osteolysis and subsequent aseptic implant loosening are a major cause of compromising the long-term results of total joint replacements. To date, no implant has been able to mirror radically the tribological factors (friction/lubrication/wear) of in vivo tribological pairings. Carbon-Fibre Reinforced SiC-Composites (C/SiSiC), a material primarily developed for br...
